Dramatic Play, Real Materials, Real Work, Real Futures!
Help me give my students "hands on" opportunities to reenact activities and observations from their life and our stories. Help them see themselves as scientists, astronauts, doctors and important community members with durable realistic tools and clothing.
My students come to school from homes with hard working families that value education. Many families are balancing 2-3 jobs but still manage to attend each and every school event and support teachers in our work.
Brilliant sons and daughters of 1st , 2nd and 3rd generation immigrants and others who call the town's east side their home.
These youngest students are forming ideas about school and their place in this world. They need a classroom that is fun and interactive. We create a space with materials to engage in authentic play that reflects their experiences and ideas for their futures.
My Project
Doctors, EMTs, scientists, police and other community members are important in the lives of our children. Dramatic play helps children to make sense of their experiences. I need to add to our current dramatic play materials.
"Hands on" play builds confidence and leads to increased language, literacy and social skills.
I want to give my students plenty of opportunities to reenact experiences they have had in life and those that we have read about in books. They need a chance to explore different roles. I want to create a classroom with durable dramatic play items that really work. These materials foster meaningful learning experiences.
