Help me give my students stainless steel kitchen essentials, a Mighty Mixer, a Dust, Sweep, & Mop Play Set, and other items to have the opportunity to put themselves in other's shoes by role-playing!
I have a fantastic group of Kindergarteners. The children come to school ready to learn and most importantly eager to learn. I have 20 students in my class and additional students in my math class. I have a range of learners including students who are above grade level, students who are on grade level and students who are below grade level. My students needs vary and I have many types of learners in my class. Some students are kinesthetic learners, some students are visual learners and some are auditory learners.
My students just love school and love more importantly love learning.
This is their first true experience in school and we make the most of it every single day.
My Project
Each and every day my students have free choice centers for about 45 minutes. At this time, they get to chose what they want to do. My students love pretend play. I see them all the time, going to housekeeping and "cooking". They love to dress up and play house with baby dolls.
Participating in dramatic play encourages imagination and social skills, two fundamentals of kindergarten.
I can not wait to watch my students engage with their new items and watch their imaginations soar. With the play phone, they can "call friends" just like their mommy and daddy. With our mop and broom, they can do household chores imitating adults in their lives. They can even be a veterinarian by taking care of the puppy! The options are endless.
