I teach 4 year old Kindergarten students in a rural Title I school, which means that many students in our school come from low-income families. Our classroom is "home" to 20 smart, curious, creative, passionate and oh-so-funny preschool students. They are a hard-working bunch who love to learn! 4K is the first true learning environment many of our students experience, which gives me the great honor of providing my students the best and most exciting first year of school!
Each day my preschool students arrive with an abundance of curiosity and a desire to explore, play, and engage in hands-on learning!

Mr. Roger's once said, “Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.”
The process of dramatic play or pretending, builds skills in many essential early childhood developmental areas.
During dramatic, unstructured play, students learn how to cooperate with one another. Learning how to take turns, share responsibility, treat their friends with respect, and creatively problem solve are important skills for preschool students.
Through playing in our new grocery store dramatic play center, students will learn the valuable skills of self regulation, self control, time management, and conflict resolution. Math and literacy skills will be exercised during our play time, and our "play" will promote language development, as well.
