My students need dishes, pots and pans, cooking utensils, pretend food, house cleaning tools, and a doll with feeding accessories for a dramatic play center.
My students are excited to be at school for the first time. They soak up everything I teach them with excitement and enthusiasm. More than half of my students are English language learners, so they really enjoy all of the hands-on activities I offer them. I am amazed at how quickly they learn English and skills necessary for them to be successful in kindergarten and beyond!
Most students at our school are from low-income families, and in the past year, many students and their families were affected by Hurricane Harvey.
I am so excited to get to spend the next 9 months with another group of precious children. I will absolutely enjoy watching them learn and grow through their first year in school!
My Project
Cooking and eating utensils, play food, cleaning tools, dolls, and baby care accessories will all be used in my classroom in a dramatic play area where students will role play cooking, serving, eating, cleaning, and care taking with a play kitchen, dining table, and highchair.
Dramatic play in the pre-k classroom offers skills in several important developmental areas.
When my students pretend in the house center, they will actively experiment with the social and emotional roles of life. They will also develop language and thinking skills, and nurture their imaginations.
I am excited to see my students' growth in all of these skill areas as they use and enjoy a fully equipped house center.
