Our elementary school is home to almost 600 kiddos. Our school is pretty unique as we have a very diverse group of students in a rural community. We have many students who can speak more than one language and some students who are new to the country. More than 65% of our students receive a free or reduced-price lunch.
The students in my classroom come from all over the world.
I am fortunate enough to have so many different smiling faces in my classroom.
Preschool is a child’s first educational experience where they get to learn and play with new friends. These new friends will look, act, and speak differently from one another. Teaching young children about acceptance is so important. This project will support this idea. The dramatic play clothes will allow students a chance to dress like others in the classroom and in the community. It will help them explore how their classmates have come from all over the world and learn what makes each of them unique. The diverse food will add to our kitchen area. It will let kids share the foods they eat at home, including what they like and what they don't like. It opens up dialogue between kids where they can play and communicate like their families when they are home.
