Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are an amazing, vibrant collection of enthusiastic artists in a Title I, inner-city, coastal Connecticut community where 100% of our students receive free lunch and there never seems to be an end to other urgent needs.
We welcome many immigrants and transient families to our community and engage students as they navigate every kind of emotional and social challenge that you can imagine.
Economic need is high, but creative passion is even higher! Please help our creative and talented students touch the wonderful materials they need to thrive and explore.
My Project
Well, we have had many fatalities this year in our plastic population. Spiderman lost a leg, Ironman lost part of his arm and poor Joker was absolutely destroyed with use. With daily enthusiastic play, our plastic heroes are badly needing reinforcement.
On the other side of the universe (carpet), Barbie has been hit with tattered clothing, worn to bits, furniture and car trouble.
We will use the wounded next year for a pretend hospital (out of wooden blocks) I'm sure. Please help replace these loved to death popular toys for the coming year. The social and verbal interactions they create are priceless!
