I love my students' enthusiasm for expressing themselves whenever we do acting work and creating their own stories and characters to act out.
One student of mine is always so ecstatic when he gets a turn to come in front of the classroom and act the character he created, Yeet Yo Mama Burrito, a superhero who saves the world by throwing burritos at the bad guys.
Teaching theatre and inspiring young children to continue to facilitate their creativity and imagination has been great. Seeing certain students who are shy, like one little girl who doesn't speak much, who gets so excited when we talk about fairy tales and loves to act like a princess or even a dragon, is glorious to see.
My Project
Students will be able to use the seating when others are performing. Students will be using the plays to act and learn how theatre works. The stars will be used for student recognition. The rug will be used for flexible seating as well as a visual aid to remind students what theatre is all about.
I asked for flexible seating, more elementary level plays to choose from, books for myself to learn how to better support my students, costumes to help students complete envision an imaginary world, and other materials to help me enforce good behavior as well as informational posters for the room.
