I need 12 copies of the Reading Strategies book for our teachers to support our individualized reading program. This book will be utilized by teachers through staff development and the strategies implemented in grades K-5.

My Students

CCES is a neighborhood Elementary School serving approximately 544 students. Our staff boasts that all of our teachers are highly qualified. We also have a very experienced and dedicated staff with just 3 teachers in their first 5 years of teaching. We are excited about the growth our students have made over the past year in reading. In our zone, our school was placed third highest in overall growth in reading last year. We want to continue meeting our students' individual reading needs by purchasing the Reading Strategies Book Your Everything Guide to Developing Skill Readers by Jennifer Serravallo for our teachers. This book will be used to further differentiate reading instruction for our Fierce Dragons!

My Project

Utilizing the Reading Strategies book our staff will receive professional development from the Literacy Facilitators regarding the strategies listed in the book. Teachers will learn to match the right reading goal to the reader so students can successfully practice differentiated reading strategies. Implementing these individualized strategies will help our struggling readers, high-level readers and those in between. Once receiving professional development, teachers will implement these effective strategies and monitor student progress. The Reading Strategies book will help our staff expand their teaching skills, utilize differentiated instructional groups, close the gap for students reading below grade level and move our top reading students to their highest skill level.
