My Students

Our students come to school every day (with 98.4% attendance) in a diverse, low-income, urban community. They are 68% Asian, 14% African-American, 11% Latino, 6% Caucasian and 1% multiracial.

Our school community supports the whole student, academically, physically and emotionally.

By meeting the needs of our students on many levels, we help them to find success in school and in their community. It is a collective effort to help each of our students become the best people they can be. We try to create a foundation that they will take with them through their education and beyond.

My Project

I work with a team of teachers who put students first, nurturing all aspects of their young lives. We have them with us for their final two years at our school, which feels like home to so many of them. Each year, I think about how to make sure each student knows how much we love them and how much we support them today and in the future.

"Oh the Places You'll Go" gives students a reminder of how much potential each one possesses and that they can do anything they can put their minds to!

I would love to be able to give each student a copy of this book, with an inscription from each of their teachers reminding them that they each have a special genius that makes them unique, and that our school is a home where they are always welcome.
