Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our campus is in Downtown Dallas, Texas. My classroom of kids are very loving students. Our school is a Title I school that just opened last year in the heart of urban Dallas. The majority of our students come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Please help students to develop the fundamental capacities that they need to become happy and fulfilled adults who contribute to society.
My Project
A Montessori classroom is thoughtfully designed to offer children opportunities to develop their own capabilities, whether it is learning how to dress themselves independently, multiply a multi-digit equation, communicate their needs effectively, or problem solve with others. My goal is to have our classroom filled with developmentally appropriate activities that encourage children to interact with specific learning materials, as well as to work cooperatively with others.
Again and again the Montessori Approach has proven to be effective at bridging the gap between students with different economic backgrounds.
Montessori materials however are pricey and I need help putting these materials in our student's hands!
