Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a special group of students. With our many different backgrounds, we try our best to learn the most we can while being inclusive of everyone's learning level.
In my class of 21 students, four receive resource services, five are new to the country and speak no English, 16 are English Language Learners, and four are native speakers.
As the Matthew Effect, the gap in academic ability widening as the "rich get richer and poor get poorer," is becoming more of an academic phenomenon, my school is striving to help our primarily ESL populated school keep the gap from stretching.
My Project
I make anchor charts and posters for my class. However, there just isn't enough room to provide so many visuals in my class. So the garment rack and binder rings will allow for me to show multiple charts at one and for me to wheel to the students that need to reference more often.
My students learn best when they are able to reference visual and engaging materials,
The binder will help me organize resources for small group instructions when I can more easily give targeted instruction.
And of course with second graders, we are still going through supplies so quickly and we can hardly keep our caddies together or full.
