"Can we read yet?" This is a question I hear at least ten times a day in my third grade classroom. Our school serves around 400 4K-eighth grade students in a small, rural town. We have a tight-knit staff, community, and student body. Everyone really comes together to help the growth of our students. Our goal is to prepare our students for further education by exposing them to as many diverse experiences as possible. Our school is also a Title I building.
My Project
Our third-grade students need environmental education materials to enrich our science curriculum. We are hoping to enhance our soil and recycling unit by getting composting kits in each classroom to show students the importance of recycling and composting! We are also hoping for rock samples to help us learn about rocks and their formation.
Not only will our third-graders learn about environmental science, but they will give back to the community.
As a part of our project, we are asking for materials to grow our own mini garden that we will then donate out to community members and businesses that help support our school every day. Together we can make the world a better and more beautiful place!
