I teach a self-contained special education classroom in grades 3rd-5th. The students have a wide range of abilities and disabilities ranging from Intellectually disabled, ADHD, to autism. The students spend many years in my classroom which really enables me to know what they need to perform to their best learning daily. I use a modified curriculum that teaches the students their grade level content based on their level of understanding.
I teach at a Title I school in Tennessee where we have 100% of our students receiving free breakfast and lunch under Community Eligibility Provision.
Our school is a Leader in Me School where everyone can be a leader; everyone has genius; and we develop the whole child by building relationships and empowering students.
My Project
Dough can be used in a variety of ways with my students. Dough helps my students build on their fine motor skills when they are able to manipulate the dough with their hands and build strength. Dough can used as a tool for the students to make letters, numbers, their names, sight words, as well as shapes.
I am asking for dough, tools to help students make letters, numbers, messy mats, and learning shapes, letters, and number mats.
The students will be able to cut letters and numbers out with the dough. They can also use the dough to free form different letters.
Dough is also so much fun for my students to just play with! My students love exploring with dough and making different things. When my students play with dough, they are also working on their communication and social skills while engaging with peers.
