Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in an urban, low-income community school with over 500 students. Many of our students come from high poverty homes. Students come from many diverse backgrounds and include a large amount of English as a second language students.
We are a Title I school, and all of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
Despite the challenges they face outside of school, students come to our school excited to learn. They need tools that will help them reach their goals.
As an educator, I focus on creating a community in my classroom where students feel safe, secure, and motivated to learn.
My Project
I am asking for a second monitor to support virtual learning. While teaching my students I often have to present my screen for students to see what they are learning. Doing this often makes me not able to see if students need support and are raising their hands. Having two monitors will allow me to have students visible on one screen while displaying student work on the other. It will also provide me with the opportunity to have children work in breakout rooms in groups and be able to see multiple teams at the same time. Being able to work cooperatively while being monitored will enhance their learning.
