As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district with 100% free breakfast and lunch, my students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. My students strive to do the very best they can to excel in the classroom.
We have students who live in foster care and some without basic amenities.
Our county is one of the poorest in Florida. Despite these challenges, I do my best best to provide a creative and meaningful learning environment for the students to learn and grow as individuals.
My Project
Our Kindergarten classes are working toward flexible seating for all students, including those with special needs such as ADHD and Autism. I believe in Growth Mindset and the ability for all students to excel, if only given the right tools. These special Donut Ball wiggle seats will be a great option for a different type of seating to encourage students to learn while being able to move about.
My Kindergarten students are constantly in motion, moving from centers, whole group, interactive play, etc throughout the day.
These Donut Ball seats are mobile and multi-functioning, which will allow students to use their seats in a variety of ways. We can use these at our tables instead of traditional chairs. Special needs and active learners will be able to take their Donut Ball seat to each place they sit throughout the day.
