Help me give my students umbrellas and ponchos for those rainy days at school!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
As a new teacher in a low-income, minority school setting, there are daily challenges that reach far beyond the four walls of my classroom, yet my students come in ready to learn each and every day. Our classroom is filled with a variety of students who have a desire to learn like no other.
Ms Burman's fourth grade class is filled with future athletes, actors, chefs, missionaries, and so much more.
In this classroom our dreams are our realities. Everything we do is centered around how to make our dreams come true, by reading better, learning math skills, acing our science test, and immersing ourselves in Alabama history in order to be a part of history one day.
In our classroom we are a community, a family. We rely on each other, learn from each other, and respect one another. My students come in every day prepared and ready to conquer the day ahead. My brave scholars face hardships that no 9 year old should ever have to deal with and still come in with smiling faces determined to make their future different. They study harder, ask more question, and challenge me to be the best possible teacher for each one.
These supplies will make life easier for all of our students who walk to and from school each day. In Mobile, it rains often and on those rainy days, many of our students do not have ponchos or umbrellas to stay dry. These supplies will make life easier on our students who have the opportunity to get extra exercise by walking to school. These would make the walk home a little easier for all of our walkers. The goal is for students to return the ponchos and umbrella daily, to keep for years to come.
It is vital that students come to school each and every day, and being dry makes each day a little brighter.
These supplies will allow each student to feel valued and important every day.
