Each of my students has auditioned to attend our public magnet school for the arts in order to advance their craft in writing.
My students are dedicated poets, storytellers, journalists, and essayists.
They demonstrate an intellectual curiosity that never fails to inspire me and those around them. They support one another and work hard to excel not only in their academic classes, but their arts area courses as well.
These students actively seek out new opportunities, such as summer workshops and calls for writing submissions. They fundraise year-round to attend poetry festivals and bring visiting writers to the school. Though their shared passion and hard work, they form a family in our department.
My Project
It's paramount that our writers are able to share their work--with one another, with their teachers, and with their community. To do so, we need working printers! Our schools receive $0 for printers, toner, and paper for use in the classroom. While my writing classes do as much as they can digitally, we need to be able to print our work to properly revise and share it with the world. It's also important to print certain reading materials and handouts to accommodate learners with specific needs. Your donation will help support young poets, storytellers, essayists, and journalists with the proper resources they need to succeed.
