Help me give my students a dryer to help keep their clothes clean and dry!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
William Butler Yates once said, "Education is not the filling a pail, but the lighting of a fire." Each day my students come to school from a variety of difficult home lives to have this educational fire lit inside of them. My students attend a Title I school in South Carolina that enrolls students with a wide range of ability levels, different socioeconomic backgrounds, and many even have difficult home lives.
For the most part, the world of my students is a simple one that lacks resources and opportunities for learning.
Even something as simple as having reliable resources can make a difference in their lives. I believe in providing my students with the highest quality education I can offer them and hope that my efforts will truly benefit these students. My school is an Arts in Basic Curriculum school, which means we focus on the integration of Music, Visual, and Performing Arts with our everyday lessons. For students who do not come from much, this integration is a way to provide them experiences and opportunities in which many of them may never get otherwise.
I would love to provide my school with a new dryer that would be used to help students who come to school with dirty and smelly clothes. Many of our students come from high poverty homes that do not have the means of keeping clothes clean. There have been many times that the teachers at my school have washed clothes and book bags for students. I can only image how it would feel to have to come to school in dirty and smelly clothes.
I would love to provide my school with this great opportunity to help keep our kids clean, dry and happy.
These donations for a dryer will help to make this a reality for our students. Having these reliable resources can really help to give those students more confidence and not have to worry about the embarrassment of being dirty. Please consider donating to my "Don't Leave Us High and Dry!" project.
