My Students

My learners are adventurous and compassionate people who are getting their chance at life. I serve ELL's that face challenges like learning a new language and adapting to a different culture. They come to PK scared and crying because they don't know what to expect.

I teach in a poverty stricken community in the outskirts of the big city where 100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch.

My learners are not defined by their circumstances but by the love that flows through their hearts and the eagerness that embodies their every action. I want to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. Despite the challenges, I take pride in welcoming my learners into an environment that provides social-emotional support and that is conducive to their learning.

In my classroom my learners have dreams of becoming doctors, teachers, scientist and poets. I want to continue to motivate all of my learners to excel and be contributing members of society because the future of tomorrow is sitting in my classroom today.

My Project

My very young learners usually scream "aaaaah" while frantically panicking to get away from insects they occasionally run into in the classroom and outside during recess. I want my learners to understand the function of insects in our environment and these manipulatives will help my learners engage in fun insect-filled activities while teaching them to respect nature.

I want to teach my learners about nature and the functions of insects that live in that environment so that they gain respect for the world around them I want them to know that even insects have a job to do!

My learners need a microscope and prepared slides to observe these insects up close and personal without being scared to handle them. The insect puzzles, Shake and Reveal Science Cards and Insects and Spiders Activity Tin will allow for my learners to playfully interact with bugs without feeling scared or anxious. The Complete Viewer Set gives my learners an up close and personal view of various insects. The more familiar my learners become with the insects and their functions the more respect they will gain.

Donors with your help you I will be able to teach my young learners that insects are more than scary bugs that you want to stay away from!
