Don't Judge a Book by it's Movie

My students need copies of 8 different books that are also popular children's movies.

We are learning to get excited about reading! I am a special education teacher with the majority of my students in fourth grade and some of my students in second grade. My students come from all different economic and cultural backgrounds.

Many of my students have learning disabilities and struggle in the area of reading. Their struggles make it hard for them to get excited about reading. They often speak of watching many movies at home, but never pick up a book for fun.

I Co-Teach in a 4th grade classroom during their reading instruction time. We are able to teach guided reading groups during this time. My students have seen movies such as James and the Giant Peach, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Bridge to Terabithia, and more. They are familiar with and love the stories. They will benefit from having these books to get them excited about reading.

Reading is so important! Once my students are able to read and hear books that they are interested in, they will realize how much fun reading is! Please help make a difference in the lives of my students. Although these students struggle in the area of reading, it is absolutely possible for them to read stories that they enjoy and become fluent readers. Thank you so much for your contribution!
