Help me give my students various writing materials, as well as coloring books to practice handwriting, build fine motor skills, and encourage the practice of regulating emotions. This will give them the chance to create and grow through writing!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high-poverty area, my students are faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom. Every child in our school receives free or reduced lunch, and a large percentage of students are considered homeless. Despite this, my students are excited to be part of a learning community where they feel safe and cared for.
Our classroom is an area where students are encouraged to work hard, collaborate with one another, and communicate clearly.
I encourage learning through exploration and value the intrinsic curiosity of my students.
My Project
My students need various writing materials, as well as coloring books to practice handwriting, build fine motor skills, and encourage the practice of regulating emotions.
My students have some of their first experiences with language in our classroom, and I would love to be able to give them a first-class experience!
Your donations will encourage my students to continue experimenting with different writing tools while building their writing abilities! Varying sizes of these tools helps encourage the development of hand muscles needed to be successful writers. These materials will also help keep my students engaged and interested in writing and drawing!
Finally, we will use the coloring books as a way to encourage mindfulness, self-regulation of emotions, and calm feelings! They will be added to our "calm down corner". Students will learn to self-soothe while also building those important muscles!
