My Students

My class is made up of an extraordinary group of students, a group of students that are the hardest subgroup to show academic growth.

Academic and Intellectually Gifted students deserve to have meaningful educational opportunities and grow in their learning.

As an Academic and Intellectually Gifted specialist, I help facilitate the learning of 35 gifted students in 4th and 5th grades. We focus on the areas of reading, math, and nonverbal skills. These students love learning and need the tools necessary to enrich their studies.

My Project

Our classroom is full of students that fell in love with Hoot, by Carl Hiaasen and now are waiting on the edge of their seats to read, Flush. They understand the predator prey relationship and how important ecosystems are. Now, they want to know what happens when the ecosystem becomes imbalanced. Flush, will allow them to tackle the issue of pollution in bodies of water- perfect for our coastal NC town! Not only will students read, but they will also participate in a simulated oil spill and clean up effort, as well as learning how to test for water quality.
