Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My First Graders are inquisitive students. They come to school every day with a passion to learn. They are motivated to expand their knowledge and help each other learn. My students are fascinated by the world around them and love reading and researching to learn more.
My students enjoy hands-on projects and using critical thinking skills to solve problems.
I enjoy watching their faces glow when they solve a coding problem, ask each other for help, or sharing their new learning and experiences.
My Project
“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn.”-John Muir
My Yellowstone National Park professional development will bring new experiences and ideas to refresh our animal unit.
I will be attending seminars and field studies about the wildlife of Yellowstone. I will be learning about American wildlife that lives in Yellowstone National Park. I will be listening to lectures from Park Rangers and wildlife experts. I will be interviewing them and using the videos as a resource. The First Grade classrooms will be able to skype with a Park Ranger; Learning first hand about the wildlife and asking him/her questions.
I am requesting funds to cover food costs. Since restaurants will be sparse and I will be actively engaged in seminars and field studies; I will be grocery shopping for energy filled foods: granola bars, fruit, etc.
This is an opportunity of a lifetime and I would appreciate your support to bring learning alive in our First Grade classrooms. Our First Graders lack experiences and early educational learning; therefore this professional development will be an amazing asset for our students to learn about the wildlife of the U.S.A. with photographs and videos of the animals they will be learning about.
