My Project

Whenever children are presented with new materials the scientific process automatically begins in their brains. What is this? What does it do? How does it move? How does it feel? And the experiment begins! Sensory play is the perfect opportunity for hands-on experimentation. As they touch, hear, smell, see and sometimes taste children’s minds are making connections about the objects in the world around them and the way to interact with them.

My students are constantly conducting experiments on the world around them, and these experiments form the basis for their cognitive development.

An opportunity for this learning comes through sensory play. When they come into the art room, many of my students want to try eating the art supplies. With the sensory toys available, they will be engaged and less likely to put paint and clay in their mouths.
