Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Teaching English Language Learners is always a challenge even in high schools. Using simple instruments like lapboards will help engage students in learning language and give them practice in solving math problems. This is why we need lap boards in my Conceptual Physics class.

Students who lack language skills and are not engaged in class quickly shut down and refuse to learn. This is a disgrace because I believe every child wants to learn if given the opportunity. So to overcome this apathy of high school students we need to engage them in learning.

Having class supplies like lap boards will give each student an opportunity to show case their understanding, interest, and creativity. Each student will have to participate in learning. Teachers can quickly assess which students understand the content and which need extra instruction. This tool is also wonderful in that teachers can use it as a quick assessment of their own pedagogy.
