Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 2nd grade class is composed of the most wonderful and kind-hearted children. All of our students come from the Watts neighborhood which is located in South Central Los Angeles. Children who live in this neighborhood are exposed to crime, gangs, poverty, and homelessness at a young age.
94% of our students are from low-income families.
100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. We have 15% of our students identified as English Language Learners.
What makes my 2nd graders special is that these students come to school every day, ready to learn, despite any hardships in their life. They are always eager to learn. They are grateful for everything they have. These students make me want to be a better teacher.
My Project
We were recently given a generous donation of 6 new iPads for our classroom. They are the first iPads we've ever had. This means we don't have any of the equipment we need to protect them.
As you know, kids are clumsy which means our iPads are at a high risk for being broken!
We need great iPad cases to protect our iPads from getting broken. Since our school doesn't have much funding, it would be nearly impossible to get the iPads fixed or repaired. That is why these iPad cases are CRITICAL! Please help us keep our iPads safe.
