This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach Special Education students with emotional and behavior disorders in a self contained classroom.
My students have special needs that may prevent them from being successful in a regular education setting but they are often able to thrive in our small group setting with positive behavior interventions & supports.
My special education students learn best in an organized and structured environment but also benefit from frequent brain breaks. They are most focused when they are able to use engage in hands on learning that integrates art, technology, and learning through games and play.
The majority of my students come from low income households and often do not have access to technology, books, and supplies outside of school.
My Project
I teach special education students with severe emotional behavior disorders. Although they have not been able to be successful in a regular education setting, they are often able to thrive in our small group setting with positive behavior interventions and supports
My students LOVE technology and STEAM are are most engaged when they are able to use technology as a learning tool and learn through play.
Ozobot, Makey Makey, and Botley the Coding Robot, are three fun ways for my students to learn about coding, programming, engineering, and inventing while also engaging in play. Technology plays an ever increasing role in their lives and future careers. However, most of my students come from low-income backgrounds and have little access to technology at home. Help us get these fun resources for our room so that my students can learn more about this exciting field to get them started early and prepared for future success.
