My students need baby doll clothes and pretend play items to play with their dolls. We need a cradle and a crib, a bath tub and a potty seat. We also need doctor kits.
I have the privilege of working with 6 amazing students in my preschool classroom. My preschool students are 2-5 years old who were born with a physical or health impairment. The students have many doctors appointments and therapies to attend, but they are still so motivated and want to do their best despite all the challenges they face! They are energetic and never give up.
Not only do my students face physical and health challenges, but many of them come from poverty and are English Language Learners.
My Project
My students love to use their imagination by using dolls. However, the pretend play items with our dolls is extremely lacking. My students learn a lot of life skills through playing with dolls, such as dressing, eating, bathing, and going to the doctor.
My students learn through hands-on experience during play.
With items such as a doctor set, crib, cradle, and doll clothes, my students would learn a variety of things, such as boosting creativity, fine motor development, learning about the human body, and social/communication skills to name a few.
By having a variety of baby doll toys, the kids will reach their Individualized Educational Plan goals for communication quickly and with much more success.
