Thanks for being a part of one of the best English classes on Earth! Currently, I am the only full-time English teacher in our alternative high school. We cater to students who have been unsuccessful in their regular high for some of the following reasons: major credit deficiencies, excessive truancies, drug/alcohol abuse, and safe school violations. Regardless of their history, my aim is to give them a fresh start, a new beginning full of limitless possibilities.

My English class is often mistaken for a history class. The more my own knowledge of history grows, the more I am able to plant this knowledge in my students. This spring we will be studying the civil rights movement. I find that my most successful teaching units occur when I can literally surround students with texts about the subject, texts and resources from which they can pick and choose as their interests grow.

As I prepare to teach students about the civil rights movement in our country, I need to fill my classroom and my bookshelves with a variety of texts and resources about the civil rights movement. With your help I will be able line up books all around the classroom on counters, on my whiteboard ledge, and on my bookshelves, books that will pique my students' interests and aid them as we study this historically important movement.

Donors Choose donors have transformed my classroom. Everything I do has a greater impact on my students thanks to you. Your contribution to my classroom will provide students with texts at a variety of reading levels, texts for those reading at a 3rd grade level and texts for those already reading at a college level. Thank you in advance for helping to create lasting, educational experiences in my classroom.
