Doing Great, Let's Celebrate and Get our Hands On Books

My Students

Motivating children every day is a theme for our school. We are a Title I school and all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. We are continually making strides to meet each student's needs.

Our students are curious and creative learners.

They are excited to participate in projects and show pride in their work. They enjoy hearing stories read aloud to them, as well as hearing about places they have never visited. Their interests involve sports, video gaming, animals, fashion and drawing.

My Project

We have established a strong literacy and positive behavior program at our school. This project would allow us to take our behavior and academic support program to the next level by merging the two programs so that students could earn the reward of choosing a new book for them to have based on their interests and reading level.

The chance to see a vending machine of books in our school would be a daily reminder to motivate students to make good behavior choices as well as the importance of reading.

Students would be able to choose the book they wanted from the vending machine, not just to read in the classroom but to take home, read with their family and build their own home library. Many of our students have limited books at home to read.
