Doggone It, We Want To Read Dog Man!

My Students

We are located in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the largest city in the state, with about twenty percent of residents below the poverty level.

My students come from a diverse set of backgrounds and each and every one of them brings a fresh, unique perspective to the classroom.

As freshmen, they are just beginning their high school careers: they are inquisitive, determined, and focused to make the best out of their school experience.

Every day, the students come to class with questions about current affairs, some obscure historical event they heard about, or just something that has always intrigued them that they want to know more about. Despite the hardships of starting high school during a pandemic, they arrive eager to learn! Their energy and determination to succeed are contagious and motivate me every day.

My Project

For the past year, I have been working hard to create a take-home library for my students, with the purpose to have them wanting to read outside of the classroom assignments. The take-home library has been a huge success to the point where students are specifically requesting books to fill their shelves now!

Dog Man books have been specifically requested by my students to take home and build their libraries- it would bring all of us great joy to have copies of these books available!

Reading is the greatest gift we can give a young scholar, please help make this project possible.
