My fourth grade classroom is made up of twenty-seven, unique students who love to use hands-on activities to learn. My students walk into our classroom everyday full of life and ready to learn. I try my best to find new ways to help keep them engaged in learning and moving forward.
I teach at a Title One school in Kentucky where one hundred percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many of our students receive backpack food on the weekend. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can, so they can be successful one day. I may not be able to control their home lives; however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day.
My Project
What more could a teacher want than to get her students to love reading? Nothing beats getting lost in a good book. Why not start with a tried and true book series that will help build a love of reading, engage imagination, and build vocabulary and reading stamina?
I want to get my students hooked on reading through the comical, action packed books such as Dog Man and Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
My students have been begging me to get book series for our classroom bookshelf. When you have students begging to read books, you find a way to get the books. Help me bring the magic and love of reading to my classroom!
