Hello! my name is Mrs. Butts and I am a third-grade teacher at a school in Ohio! We have a great school, awesome students, and a dedicated faculty. Our community is small but mighty and is very supportive of our students and our schools.
I am very fortunate to work with this school district and I want to provide my students with as many learning opportunities as I can.
It is a small town where there is a great amount of love and support for the students in our schools. Larger districts have more to provide for their students, however, I do not want that to be an excuse for the students in my classroom. I want to be the best teacher that I can be to help them be the best learners that they can be.

My Project
Flexible seating allows students to make a choice that works best for them to be able to focus during class time. My students currently have flexible seating around the room for silent reading time. I would like to implement more flexible seating options in my room for during lessons as well. Some students simply cannot sit still and would benefit from being able to move a little during work without disrupting the whole class.
Giving students a choice on where to sit helps them focus on their work and have control of their own fidgeting without distracting others.
I have many students in my class that this would benefit, however, I am starting small and only asking for six balance ball chairs. I would like to gradually introduce the students to flexible seating with time so they become familiar with their options and how to use them appropriately. Over time I hope to add more seating options such as wobble chairs.
For this project, I am asking for six Flex-Space Balance Ball Chairs. This will allow the students in my third-grade class and my two study hall classes to begin the process of having a classroom full of flexible seating options. I have researched so much about flexible seating and I hope it has the same positive effect for my classroom that it has had for other educators!
