Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember trying to learn plate tectonics? Earthquakes? volcanoes? rocks? or Integers? The more ways children hear the information, the more likely they are to remember key concepts. Hands-on projects keep students engaged and focused on the activity.
My students are new Middle School 6th graders.
They enjoy and learn better when new concepts are taught to them mutliple ways: hearing, seeing, reading and hands-on activities. My classes include students with special needs to identified gifted students and everywhere in-between. Circuit boards help improve learning for all children. Our public school has approx. 1700 students in three small communities: Resident School, Magnet School and School for Advanced Studies. As most public schools today, we are very short on funds to supply classrooms with supplies for hands-on activities.
My Project
Students will make circuit boards to study and review key math and science concepts. These boards can be created multiple ways. They can have questions and answers on one concept such as integers OR circuit words with definitions. Children learn the concepts while creating them, then practice and quiz themselves when completed. By having groups of students creating different circuit boards will enable them to practice, learn and quiz multiply areas between groups and classes. I am requesting 10 buzzers and 10 wire strippers which will be used for several years. The chipboard, wire and fasteners will make 300 circuit boards,
Your generous donation with make a difference in the lives of my current and my future students.
Creating a project where they learn while making them; then have fun practicing, studying and quizzing themselves and others with one activity will have a lasting impact on these young adults. Circuit boards help not just the student who is making the board, but will reach others in their class and other children in all my classes as they take turns practicing with all the boards created.
