My Students

A typical day in my classroom includes a musical greeting, body and vocal warm-up, movement and singing. We will do some vocal ear training exercises, play rhythm sticks, practice reading rhythm symbols and melody, dance and play a singing game, and analyze songs for various musical concepts.

My students are amazing and range from Kindergarten to fifth grade.

When they sing they brighten up the room with their sparkling faces full of joy and excitement. Students love to play and experience the sounds of different musical instruments. They range from learning how to sing to taking your breath away with the beautiful tones they sing. I work at five different schools and cart in much of the musical equipment and props used daily for these classes. Amterials get a bit beat up from the daily lugging it around. I am so thankful for this opportunity to get a new quality speaker to use for all of the students I teach and for all of our rehearsals. I have bought over fifteen of the plastic teacher carts to haul my supplies and everyone of them has broken. So I am requesting a heavy duty steel tool cart that claims to hold 200 pounds. I only wish it was bigger to fit all the supplies to bring the gift of music to over 1000 of my students each week.

My Project

Little by little increases much. (Proverbs 13:11) My students need a quality Bose SoundDock Speaker system, an Epson DC11 document camera, along with two tambourines and several American Folk Songs and other books. My students are with me for approximately 30-35 minutes a week. Usually schools do not have extra money to fund the music department with technological equipment. Through Donors Choose, I will be able to purchase a document camera for my students so their songs and music worksheets can be displayed, which will help them have more songs and musical info at their disposal. My students will hear their songs on a quality speaker. I will be able to transport my supplies without the cart breaking or more materials damaged, because of a heavy duty replacement. I will bring quality lessons to my students with the aid of these great music resources.

My students will continue to hear beautiful music through the amazing new Bose Sound Dock.

This is the third one I will get for my music class because with daily set up and tear down, it tends to need to be replaced more often than if it stayed in one class or a home. We will still continue to learn to sing accapella on many occasions because there is much benefit to that, but at least now when we need our speaker to work, it will. Thank you donors!
