Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students commute from all five boroughs to attend a Title 1, public high school.
Many of my students are visual learners and thrive when they are able to see demonstrations and examples of what is asked of them or what their peers can share.
Many of my students come from lower income backgrounds where they don't always have the funds to purchase what they need for class, but because they want to attend art school, they want to make their work the best it can be and the quality of their needs to be able to shine by their technical skill level that they are working on in class.
They desire is to be seen and known in their work and themselves.
My Project
Each year when I begin the school year, I ask my students about their individual learning styles. I find that visual and kinetic learning styles dominate my classroom.
In my past four years of teaching, I have learned that my students learn best when they are given clear examples of how to create or what the ideal outcome should be in a project.
Having a document camera that offers the ability to show my students these examples would make such a difference in their future success in my classes. Many of my special needs students learn better when they are able to visualize a task and having a document camera would help them tremendously to be able to understand the material they are learning in class.
This document camera would be such a godsend to my classroom-both for virtual learning as well as while we are physically together in the classroom. Please support this project and help make a difference in my students' lives.
