My students need three iPad Minis with protective cases and wall chargers, tripods, document camera, pencil sharpener, and microphones for incorporating documentaries in their writing.
Benjamin Franklin once said, "Tell me and I will forget, teach me and I will remember, involve me and I will learn." There is nothing more involved and exciting than making movies in a classroom. This is what I want to do with my students this year.
Our school is a brand new school, and I have a very diverse class.
My class has students from at least 8 different countries, and many of them speak different languages. They have all come together at my school, which is an International Baccalaureate school, where we teach students to be internationally minded along with the core curriculum. I am excited this year to involve my students in learning about the world around them. I want to do this through film and documentaries.
I also have several very low students, who are in need of intervention, and the iPads will aid in their progression through apps.
My Project
I have requested iPads with protective cases, microphones, and tripods that will allow us to film our writing. Writing has become and important part of the core curriculum and as students write for a purpose in film making, it becomes much more engaging and exciting. I plan on making "how to" videos and "documentaries" along with plays.
iPads can also beneficial for below level students, who have difficulty writing with a pencil or formulating sentences. They can also be helpful with apps that can help with math or reading. I plan to use them in every facet.
I have also requested a document camera and a pencil sharpener, because our school is a brand new charter school, and this equipment would benefit my classroom greatly.
I know that this project will make a huge difference in my students lives.
It will make a the writing core come alive for the high students and it will allow the writing curriculum to be possible for my students who truly struggle to hold a pencil. I would be so utterly grateful for these items to be donated to my classroom this year.
