Imagine trying to look at a 8 1/2 by 11-inch paper from your seat! The math program being used at our school has classroom practice pages for students to do both individually as well as together with the teacher. We also need to learn about 3-D shape names, and it would help if we had samples.
My students are a bright bunch of first grade students.
We are one of three first grade classes at our school. I am proud to say that I teach very hard-working children who love to learn, have fun, and just be kids. They are mesmerized by technology, and the mere use of it gets them excited.
My Project
Having a portable document camera in class will open many doors for us. A document camera can be used for many reasons. Any piece of paper with writing or drawing can be placed under it and---voila!---that same image will be projected onto the board. My students will be able to see clearly on the board small pages of math problems, drawings, 3-D shapes, sentence writing activities, and more. We will also benefit by having some essential supply pieces we are missing from our classroom.
We will use the document camera mainly for our math lessons so that the children can see the page that they are working on.
The guided lessons will be more meaningful if the students can see their teacher work it out step by step. A document camera will change this and more! It will be a great addition and resource to our class and our learning experience! Plus, with geometric shapes tub, magnetic word builders, and other supplies, we will be able to complete some art projects, learn about 3-D shapes, and more.
