Ms. Franklin from Durham NC is requesting instructional technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a document camera for more collaboration, engagement, and interaction throughout the learning process.

"Teachers who love teaching teach children who love learning." As I enter my 6th year of teaching, I continue to follow this mantra in my classroom. I teach 18 wonderful second grade students who come from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds, cultures, and learning styles!
My students are extremely motivated, and they are genuinely respectful to each other.
Every day, we engage in learning tasks that challenge my students, which leads to a powerful love of learning in all subject areas. They are lovers of learning, and I am truly grateful to be their teacher this year.
Document cameras allow teachers to make the thinking process come alive by creating opportunities for more student discussion, interaction, and engagement. My students need a document camera which would allow them to see exactly what is going on while using math manipulatives or reading materials. My learners are very visual and this would help them learn in a way that is more conducive to their learning style.
Document cameras are a simple way to integrate technology into the classroom and can make instruction more effective while boosting student engagement.
Utilizing a document camera not only provides the classroom with another method for learning, but can open the eyes of students to things they may have never been able to see before. The document camera will allow me to encourage students to share their writings (for presenting or peer editing), solutions to mathematical equations, and scientific investigations. As a teacher, sharing student work will become less tricky with a document camera.
Visual learning is innate and fundamental. Having a visual model can support development of stronger creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving abilities. I believe this versatile tool will help improve my students’ communication, participation, confidence and focus.
