These are unprecedented times. Never did I imagine that when my students and I said goodbye in March it would mean that it was our last day in the classroom. However, the year is not over yet!
My students and I have embarked on the distance learning journey!
We are actively engaging in all sorts of different online platforms and learning new things. My students and I participate FIVE times a week in WEBEX meetings to go over new material, and to check in with each other. In addition, I am recording lessons at home for them to view and continue to learn new material. I am amazed by their level of engagement and participation, and families' willingness to try new things.
Distance learning has presented many new challenges in my teaching- learning how to better teach students in this new environment. One item that would greatly enhance my teaching is a document camera for home. Right now, I log in to WebEx on my computer and my phone, using my phone with books, stacked up to create a way for students to see how I am working. This however, is creating lag and echo. We are looking for a better way to learn together, and a document camera will be that solution!
