Even middle school students want to be successful learners for a bright future regardless of their current situation. My sixth graders want to be winners in life. Many students have experienced setbacks and trauma but need to feel as if their life matters. They need to know that when they walk into my classroom that it is a safe, nurturing, and loving environment. It is filled with opportunities for them to learn, grow, and make their dreams become a reality!
I will need a document camera to use to model writing in my classroom. Since I will be teaching two sections of ELA, time will be spent on text dependant analysis writing. Writing ability will vary and students will need additional support. Therefore, time will be spent teaching writing skills and modeling writing during whole group instruction. Students' work will be reviewed with the document camera while using the Study Synch ELA resource.
Students will be able to give peer feedback and encourage each other to help improve writing.
Integrating technology with the use of the document camera for small-group writing skill review will be beneficial for all students. Students will be writing a lot this year both in ELA and SOC. This document camera will be used on a daily basis.
