Document Camera for the Visual Learner in All of Us!
My students need the Ipevo 5 Dual Mode Document camera to use during our Math, Literacy, and Art lessons so that the teacher can provide visual modeling and students can visually share work with their peers.
In our rural community, many of my students come from a low socioeconomic family and home, where families may not have a consistent modeling of reading or writing. Our school consists of about 375 students from Kindergarten to fifth grade, with more than half of my students from low-income households, and over 67% of students on free and reduced lunch. I currently teach 19 students, with 4 of those receiving services in an Exceptional Children's classroom. Our school is an Arts Integrated School, meaning we integrate various Arts in our planning, instruction, and assessment.
My Project
For most of us, it's easier to understand a new concept when we are able to see a good model/example. A visual learner remembers 75% of what they read or see! I am requesting a document camera for my students to use during our Math and Literacy lessons because it is absolutely essential for my students to have the technology necessary to visually share their work. The Ipevo Dual Mode document camera will allow our class to do just that!
In our rural community, many of my students come from a low socioeconomic family and home, where families may not have provided a modeling of reading or writing.
I can model work for my students by using the document camera along with our Smartboard projector. I will be able to model the formation of letters in handwriting, point to text when reading a book as a group, create an art project example, show flash cards to the whole class at a clear distance, or model solving a math word problem.
Currently, when my students are participating in group activities, they do not have a way to effectively share their work with the entire class at once. The Ipevo Document Camera will allow students to share their work with all their peers at one time, with a large clear view. Students will be able to show peers their “mathematical thinking” with problem solving steps. This will be especially helpful to my visual learners who learn best from seeing examples. Imagine the impact this will have in reading, writing, and math!
