Help me give my students updated technology tools such as a document camera and flash drives to record and store educational instructional videos for my students to learn during distance learning.
I teach special needs students from Kindergarten to fourth grade in my resource room In New Haven, CT. My students have mild to moderate disabilities,mostly learning disabilities that greatly impact their reading and writing, so they need intense daily reading instruction.Our school district closed suddenly due to the pandemic and we did not know when or if we would return to our classrooms. As a result, I was unable to collect instructional materials to teach my students.
While staying in quarantine at home, my students and I had to learn to use whatever technology we had at our disposal to do distance learning, the most challenging being for me to create virtual assignments to teach something that can really only be taught in person.
My Project
The materials that I would like to receive, would improve my instruction from home to create educational videos in reading, writing, and math. The document camera has a stand that bends over a piece of paper on the desk or board to record lessons. I can put the videos on a flash drive since I don't have much storage on my old computer. With the markers I would write on a dry erase board while I'm teaching.
Without these materials, my special needs students will not be able to get quality interactive lessons to keep them learning and engaged during these difficult times of social isolation.
They miss school and their teachers so very much! The technology I would use can help them reconnect with an important part of their lives which they have lost during the pandemic.
