My students need good visual teaching cues and presentations that a document camera will provide. My current overhead technology is out-of-date and needs replacement.

My students are energetic enthusiastic third graders who attend an urban school in San Francisco.
They are part of the visual generation who learn by seeing, and if my classroom had a document camera I would be able to provide the zone of proximal development that is so necessary for teaching.
In third grade I really need to help my students reach their full potential by delivering instruction in all subject matter: Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science. I believe I can maximize my students learning and enjoyment in learning by providing excellent visual cues that a document camera will provide.
My Project
One of the most difficult subjects to teach is writing and editing. One reason it is so difficult is because you can only show and teach one to students at a time. With a document camera, a teacher can reach a whole classroom by writing a paragraph on a computer and have it displayed in the front of the room. A teacher could also edit a student's paper in front of all the students and all could see the what corrections need to be made.
Many times in subjects such as math and science a teacher needs to model how a tool is used such as a calculator or scale. With a document camera a whole class can see the tool being used and how to use it themselves.
I believe a document camera will relieve a lot of stress from my students and that they will be able to enjoy learning more.
When a student masters a concept and is able to do it on their own with ease, it is a wonderful experience. I really believe this tool in the classroom will help me to reach my students and make my classroom a wonderful experience for all.
