This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
A typical day in my classroom is fast, full of constant movement, and keeps the students engaged at all times of the day. From morning activities to quick reflection activities getting on the bus during dismissal, my students are constantly working, learning, and creating.
My students thirst for technology constantly.
There is always movement, hands-on learning, group activities, and a constant need to further their creativity. I want my students to see and understand that anything is possible and they have the ability to plan, create, and learn from their own experiences. I want my students to prove to themselves they are capable of anything in this world and they can achieve it.
My Project
A document camera will be beneficial to my students by giving them the capability to visualize. This benefits students by showing anything and everything from writing samples, project examples, showing steps in interactive notebooks, and giving them the visualization they need to be successful. This will also help the student by having them become the teacher. They can physically stand up, walk up to the document camera, and place their paragraph about a ferocious monster under the camera so we all can read along and see how he or she put their imagination and creativity on paper. It is an amazing feeling to know that something so small can make such a difference.
As a teacher going in to my 3rd year with so many new ideas, this document camera would improve my classroom by having an additional tool at my student’s fingertips as well as mine.
This is technology that can be shared with other teachers and students throughout the school and can reach many individuals on a given school day.
