My students are 6th and 7th graders in a suburban Massachusetts middle school. I am so fortunate to teach in such a great community. My students are enthusiastic learners with well rounded interests. Many students participate in extra curricular activities like sports, music, and community events. Our whole community works together to create a warm welcoming environment for our students to grow.
The art room is a place for students to use their imagination and challenge themselves artistically.
My students are always excited to come to art and learn new techniques. In art we learn how to use the principles and elements of design while creating artwork in various mediums and styles. Students take great pride in their work, especially their drawings. Out of the box ideas are encouraged as students are reminded to make original work that is meaningful to them.
My Project
One of the exciting aspects of being an art teacher is showing my students the how to steps of various art techniques. Demonstration is one of the most important. Traditional demonstrations in the middle school art room can get a little hectic. Twenty four students crowded around a table does not provide an optimal viewing experience for everyone. Some students may have a blocked, sideways, or even upside-down view.
The Longjoy HD Digital document camera would project my live demonstrations on the whiteboard so all of my students could watch from the comfort of their seats.
Since students would be at their tables, this would also allow for them to take notes or follow along. The efficiency of the document camera set-up would easily save a few minutes from my demo as well. Besides using the camera as a live feed for demonstrations the camera can record videos for future use, as well as scan/project objects, images, documents, and books. This device would truly enhance my students' learning experiences in art.
