Living in a technologically savvy world and city, we need to ensure our students receive exposure to such amenities in order to better prepare our next generation of leaders. In order to accomplish this, students need technology within the classroom.
A document camera and projector both serve a very big need in the classroom in order to make sure students can effectively see the material that is being taught and presented.
However, around 80% of my students come from low socio-economic backgrounds and lack access to technology. Our school is also lacking the technology my extremely hardworking students need. Therefore, we would highly appreciate this in our classroom!
I am requesting an Epson DC-06 document camera and an Epson PowerLite X12 Business Projector. The camera can zoom in on small writing as well as objects and reduces the amount of time spent on copying and creating transparencies (used on an overhead projector), and allows students to see where I am pointing to on a specific page in a book or worksheet. Ideas and problems are more easily explained when students can see the work done in front of them.
Additionally, different types of learners can benefit from the camera as well. Those who are visual learners can better see the presentation or lesson and hands-on learners can place their own work under the camera to bring it to life and give their explanation of the work accomplished.
A document camera serves many purposes and these are only a few.
I hope that you will support me in my effort to bring technology into our third grade classroom and help our students advance in their learning!
