My Students
My school is located in a neighborhood that is based on a low income high poverty area. A majority of my students are African American, I also have students who are refugees, Caucasian, and Hispanic. Some of my students have experienced trauma in their life and often have to put their personal things aside to be successful in the classroom. We are constantly working hard in my building to show the students that they are capable of reaching their dreams and that they are loved. They are constantly being pushed to do their personal best and are always tracking themselves with reminders of their personal goals. Our school was once considered a failing school, but now is a school that many leaders want to come and see the changes and success that is happening in the classroom. Teachers are constantly being pushed to learn new things and look at things from different angles which has proven that our continued learning is beneficial to our students. The students in my classroom have brought me joy from year to year because of their abilities and growth that they are continuing to do and strive for.
My Project
These 8 and 9 year old student have taught me how to wobble, now its my time to allow them to wobble while learning. I will use these Trideer Inflated Stability Wobble Cushions to help my students focus during their small group instruction time. During this time, I am already allowing students to stand while they are at the table for their small group instruction. The kids are needing a chance to wiggle during the day and the wobble cushions will help them release this energy while they are in the classroom. We have the pleasure of having bouncy balls in our media room and the students love to use this flex seating during this time. I know that the kids would really love these cushions to use in the classroom at the small group table and or for those students who just need a different seating environment. I know that the students would enjoy this privilege and being able to have this option during their school day to help the focus while learning.
