Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

The things that gives the most joy in the world is when a child first learns to read. To me reading is in important life skill. I currently am a Special Education Teacher and work with students in grades K-5 that are still waiting on that joy of reading their first book. I teach in Texas in low income area where I play the role of teacher, parent, friend, counselor, and whatever else comes my way. My students are my pride and joy. I treat all my students as if they were my own. Being in such a low income area it hard for them to see the importance of reading when they are just trying to make it from day to day. But I know they will make it and that the first step is to be able to see what I see in them ,success. The item I am wanting for my students is an Elmo. This piece of technology will give them an opportunity to visually communicate lessons in a different way. I know they will be able to concentrate and be curious about what they are learning because its not the same old pencil to paper lessons. It's time we as a class experience technology. With your donation you will be making history. You will be part of the joy and happiness my students feel as they learn to read their first book and learn in a new and AWESOME WAY!!! Thank you for your time and all you do.
