This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is a 100% Title I school. This means that all of my students get free lunch. They also get a free breakfast in the classroom. We are a small school in California. About 75% of my students are African-American and 25% are Latino.
We are a magnet school attached to a regular education school.
Our magnet school is a science/technology school. Our kids are bright, hardworking kids. They arrive each day ready to learn. I expect great contributions to our world from each of my kids.
My Project
My students are working hard to master common core standards but what if they were able to practice and apply these standards in a way that is meaningful?
With a GoPro video and digital camera, I can record all the activities my students are involved in throughout the year.
With iMovie on their iPads, my students then can create a digital yearbook. This yearbook can stay with them forever and be shared with their families.
Not only will they have a super memory, they will be using technology in real twenty-first century ways so that they develop skills to meet the needs of the twenty-first century workforce.
